Andrew was the first to wake up the next day as he needed to get to the convention center early for his morning meetings.
Slightly awake due to Andrew’s stirrings (but more because of the bright beam of light breaking through my window), I started thinking about my prototypes and things I would do later that day. I vaguely recalled one of my friends mentioning something about a huge market, some international district, and a park with a nice view of the Space Needle.
Almost as soon as I had started thinking about plans, Andrew left, and so I got ready.
While waiting for Patrick to wake up, I had some of the grapes and cheese bread from my previous grocery excursion. I had a short bit of time to arrange my three games before Patrick woke up and we headed off.
Led by Patrick and his previous trip to the city, our first destination was International District to get lunch. After getting to the neighborhood by bus and wandering around, we eventually settled on a fairly well-rated restaurant called Mike’s Noodle House. Told to get the noodle soup, rice porridge, and Chinese donut; we did just this. The food was great and and it was fun to both see and wave hi at the chefs in the kitchen.
After lunch, we got on another bus and headed towards a market that Patrick thought I would really like.
I didn’t just like Pike Place, I loved it! I spent a great deal of time perusing the vendors–enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells they had to offer. I took more than a couple of photos which you clearly see:
I was also fascinated by the design of signage and art around the market.
Including the infamous Gum Wall…
Before meeting up with another one of my friends, Patrick and I decided to take a ride on The Seattle Great Wheel. Despite the fact that the ride was a bit unnerving for me (something about heights), the views from above were amazing.
After riding the Great Wheel, we met up with my friend, Scott, and stopped by a bustling seafood place for happy hour. We were there for a while, enjoying each other’s company, before proceeding to dinner at Terra Plata and Scott’s place. Along the way, we neared an awesome little arcade called John John’s Game Room.
Naturally, we dropped in for a peek.
The venue had a host of old-fashion pinball and arcade machines including Zeke’s Peak (which I highly recommend you play if you ever get the chance).
Eventually, Andrew met us all up.
The rest of the night was a quick tour of Scott’s neighborhood interspersed between meeting new people and trying food from an American Indian food truck. After a couple of hours enjoying the night in Capitol Hill; Patrick, Andrew, and I finally got back to the house we were staying at. Although excited about what the next day would hold, I quickly fell asleep–probably dreaming about some kind of wacky game concept.
